Track & Field Compete at Region 6 Indoor Championships

Pittsburg, KS. — FHNW Track & Field competed at the Region VI/KJCCC Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, with the men's team placing 12th with 5 points. 

 

Sprints & Field Events:

Jeremy Charles, Cyrus Charles, and Brian Davis competed in the 60 meter prelims, with Charles advancing to the finals with a time of 6.82 seconds. In the finals, Charles placed 7th, with a time of 6.91 seconds.

In the 200 meter prelims, both Raheem McCalman and Jeremy Charles competed, with McCalman advancing to the finals. In the finals, McCalman placed 6th, with a time of 21.62 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Raheem McCalman placed 12th, with a time of 49.62 seconds. Noah Mitchell placed 14th, with a time 50.48 seconds.

Middle & Long Distance

In the 1000 meter run, Salisu Habibu competed, placing 19th, with a new school record of 2:34.79.

In the 3000 meter run, Zakaria Anou competed, placing 11th, with a time of 9:13.09.

In the 5000 meter run, Zakaria Anou finished 18th, with a time of 16:32.60.

In the Men's Distance Medley Relay, the Tigers placed 9th, with a time of 10:41.95. The members of the team included: Ahmed Belouaer, Noah Mitchell, Salisu Habibu, and Zakaria Anou

 

The Tigers will now turn their attention to the NJCAA Indoor Championships, with three runners participating at Nationals. Raheem McCalman will be competing in the 200-meter dash, Noah Mitchell in the 400-meter dash, and Salisu Habibu in the 800-meter run. 

The National Championships are scheduled to take place in Topeka, Kansas, from March 6th through the 7th. Send-offs for Nationals will be at the Sharp Administration Building on Wednesday, March 4th, at 10:00 a.m.
