Track & Field Compete at Friends University Spring Invite
Wichita, KS. — Fort Hays Tech Northwest Track & Field competed at the Friends University Spring Invitational on Thursday and Friday.
Sprints & Field Events:
In the 100m prelims, Jeremy Charles placed 12th, with a time of 10.79 seconds. Noah Mitchell also competed, finishing 31st, with a time of 11.13 seconds.
In the 200m dash, Jaden De Souza placed 2nd, qualifying for Nationals while setting a new school record with a time of 20.76 seconds, breaking the previous record set by Jaysaun Smith in 2022 by 0.19 seconds. Noah Mitchell also competed, placing 27th, with a time of 22.38 seconds.
In the 400m dash, Raheem McCalman placed 4th, with a time of 48.77 seconds. Ahmed Belouaer also competed, finishing 37th, with a time of 53.00 seconds.
In the men's 4x100 relay, the Tigers placed 3rd, with a time of 41.20 seconds, missing the national qualifying standard by 0.06. Jeremy Charles, Cyrus Charles, Noah Mitchell, and Jaden De Souza were the four runners to compete in the relay.
Middle & Long Distance:
In the 1500m run, Ahmed Belouaer placed 19th, with a time of 4:18.69.
In the 5000m run, Zakaria Anou placed 12th, with a time of 16:51.70.
The Tigers' next meet is scheduled for Friday, April 10th, at the Grizzly Gold Invite, located in El Dorado, Kansas.
