Human Capital:

A FIRST Robotics team cannot function without the support of engineers, designers and technicians to work with the students and we are very lucky to have the professional, technical staff at Atlantic Technical Center to assist and support our students (welding, machining, electrical, electronics, programming). But we are always in need of additional mentors, industry working professionals, to help guide our students:

•  Mechanical Engineer:

•  Electronics Engineer:
•  Computer Programmer:
•  Designer or CAD/UG    Operator:
•  Pneumatics Expert:

•  Computer Graphics Mentor:
•  To help design drive trains, gearboxes, lift and pick-up    mechanisms
•  To help wire motors/components and set up controls
•  To help write program for the robot
•  To translate sketches and design ideas into working    drawings
•   To assist with any pneumatics on the robot

•   To lead discretionary animation competition using
     3D Studio Max software

•  Time Commitment:

The official completion season opens with a kickoff the first Saturday in January. Teams have just six short weeks from the kickoff to design and build their robots. Teams meet several days a week, if not daily to meet this deadline. Once the robot ships mid-February, teams will continue to meet, but much less frequently. Competitions take place in March and April. Mentoring takes place when the high school students are available after school (after 2:00 Monday-Friday) and on Saturdays. No mentor needs to be there every day, expect by choice. We will work out rotation schedules for our mentors to ensure students are getting the direction they need on a daily basis

•  A Place to Build

A distinct advantage with the Magnet High School housed on the Technical Center campus, we have access to high-end technical equipment, professional personnel, and state-of-the-art facilities from 7 AM to 10 PM, Monday through Thursday, and from 7AM to 1PM, Saturdays. Most teams have to go “somewhere” to meet and build… we never leave home!
